How to search in the corpus

In the Basic Search section, users can enter a character string to locate it within the corpus. Humtext’s search system allows users to explore the content of the transcriptions through three main search modes:

  1. Exact match. The search is carried out by considering the text exactly as written, respecting both the order and the form of the words.
Example: If the phrase "tres mil pesetas" is entered, a valid result would be: “El piso que se alquila renta tres mil pesetas.”
  2. All words in any order. In this type of search, results are retrieved if they contain all the specified words, even if they appear in a different order or are not adjacent. Example: If the search is for "hombre, señora", a valid excerpt might be:
–Hombre, pues yo no le vi.
Es que estaba en la galería baja con una señora.
  3. Partial match. Not all the words entered in the search need to appear in the transcription. The system retrieves excerpts containing any of them.
Example: If the word "señor" is searched, results might include:
    –¡¡Señor maestro!!
    –No tengo, señor.

In the Advanced Filters section, users can select different criteria to refine the search, such as the publication medium (name, place of publication, type of distribution, section, year), humor genre, theme, among others. The results will display a list of humorous texts, with options to view the transcription, consult the full archive, and download it in PDF format.
